Commission on Discipleship
Discipleship/Church Ministries Division
The Commission on Discipleship is a part of the Assemblies of God Discipleship/Church Ministries Division. The following is a brief description of each of the 13 ministry departments that comprise the division.
Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge

David Boyd
National Director

The motto for Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge (BGMC) is “Challenging Kids to Reach the World.” The two-fold purpose of BGMC is to reach the children of the world and to create a heart of compassion in kids. The national BGMC department serves as a resource to equip children’s leaders, churches, and districts in their efforts to promote missions awareness, instill compassion for the needy, encourage sacrificial giving, and stir boldness to share the gospel. This is accomplished through (1) resourcing leaders with annual missions curriculum, DVDs, Power Points, videos, and promotional materials, (2) encouraging leaders through newsletters, Web site articles, and e-mail communications, and (3) empowering leaders by speaking at retreats, banquets, conferences, camps, conventions, etc.

National Youth Ministries

Jay Mooney
National Director
The mission of National Youth Ministries (NYM) is to equip the church to win, build, and send students to fulfill the Great Commission. This mission is accomplished through four strategic emphases within NYM: Win, Build, Send, and Lead. Student Outreach is a combined effort of students, youth leaders, and appointed Youth Alive missionaries across the entire nation—all working toward the common goal of winning students to Christ using the Youth Alive strategy of Prayer Zone Partners, Campus Missionaries, Campus Clubs, and the Seven Project. Student Discipleship works to build both students and leaders in their understanding of their walk with God and to help them to further discover and develop their ministry potential. This is realized through multiple resources including the ministries of Bible Quiz and Fine Arts, both of which provide participation at a local, district, and national level. The Student Missions aspect of NYM works toward the goal of sending students, leaders, and resources to assist in world evangelization through ministry opportunities such as AIM, GlobYLnet, and Speed the Light. NYM’s leadership focus provides training and resources for district youth directors and youth leaders across the nation.
