Small Groups
Welcome to the world of the Assemblies of God small groups! Small Groups have the potential of creating dynamic disciples through nontraditional means and ministries. This site gives church leaders wonderful ideas and resources to help address local situations, it provides opportunities to study other churches with effective small groups, and it includes a discussion forum for the exchange of discipleship and small group ideas.
A small group is any group desiring to meet under the supervision of church leadership (on or off campus) for the purpose of growing in Christ through fellowship and wholesome activities. An Assemblies of God Small Group or affinity group must include a minimum 10 minute window for the purpose of Bible reading or discussion and prayer.
The Future of Small Groups
Retired Assistant General Superintendent and former Commissioner of Discipleship, Charles Crabtree, shared on the future of small groups in the Assemblies of God. “Small Groups have relaxed atmospheres,” he says, “where people can be nurtured in healthy relationships, led into healthy discipleship and where they can grow and develop a healthy hunger for the Lord.” Listen to the message.

In a recent study, the Barna Research Group revealed a stunning statistic that continues to reverberate throughout the evangelical world. Only 9 percent of professing Christians have a biblical worldview. Because of this, todays believers live very similarly to non-believers. To counter this Focus on the Family has developed The Truth Project; a DVD-based small group curriculum comprised of 12 one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. This home study is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life.
These topical studies are the perfect way to start discussion and change lives in your church. Each downloadable study features interactive questions, insightful notes, and inspiring points that will get your group talking. Plus, the downloadable format offers a simple, inexpensive way to meet the needs of your small groups. $1.99 per lesson.
Relevant, short videos are a good way to introduce life issues and topics for discussion. NOOMA is a revolutionary product that is changing the way people experience spirituality – a series of short films on DVD between 10 and 14 minutes long with a 32 page discussion guide. Like parables, NOOMAs use the experiences of our lives to teach about the fullness of life through Jesus, tackling issues like forgiveness, discipleship, and unconditional love. The study materials accompanying each NOOMA encourage meaningful discussion with relevant questions and biblical references. Click here for more information, to view sample video clips, or to order.
